Custom Marking Management

Our Custom Marking tutorial will help you to learn how to set up and manage Custom Marking Formats.

Default Marking Formats

  • Grade A-F
  • Percentage 0-100%
  • BTEC (Distinction, Merit, Pass, Fail, Referral)

Custom Marking Formats

  • Number - Add any number range that relate to the assessment or weight of the assignment across a course. For example, use for a quick quiz to evaluate knowledge at each stage of the curriculum cycle.
  • Text - Create a list of text options for your marking criteria. These could be Pass/Fail or feedback levels ranging from 'Amazing work' to 'See me!'.

Create a new Marking Format

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click the Marking Formats tab
  3. Click Add Marking Format
  4. Add a title
  5. Choose Number or Text
    • For Number:
      • Add a Minimum and Maximum value
      • Click Add
    • For Text:
      • Provide a Label
      • Click Add Dropdown Option to add more Labels
      • Click Add

Edit Marking Formats

Please note, you cannot change Marking Formats from Number to Text and vice versa.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click the Marking Formats tab
  3. Click Edit
  4. Make your changes
  5. Click Update

Delete Marking Formats

Please note, you will only be able to delete Marking Formats that you have created.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click the Marking Formats tab
  3. Click Delete
  4. Click Delete Marking Format
